Iredell County, NC — A significant milestone in sleep apnea care was recently achieved at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Dr. Steven Landau, a board-certified ENT specialist with Piedmont HealthCare, has conducted his 100th Inspire procedure, providing a viable solution for patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who find traditional CPAP therapy challenging.

The Inspire procedure is an outpatient treatment involving a small implant that stimulates airway muscles during sleep to maintain open airways, eliminating the need for masks or hoses. This minimally invasive procedure has offered relief to patients who had limited options.

Dr. Landau, who has practiced in the Greater Statesville area for 20 years, is recognized for his expertise in various ENT conditions, including sinus issues and allergies. His pioneering work with Inspire therapy has established him as a regional leader in sleep apnea treatment. Dr. Landau's distinguished efforts have earned him the "Provider of Excellence" title from Inspire, a recognition given to only 5–10% of physicians skilled in this therapy.

Recently, Iredell Health System announced the expansion of this treatment in the region with the opening of Iredell Ear, Nose & Throat. Dr. Jeffrey Brink, a board-certified otolaryngologist, will provide Inspire therapy for OSA, thus broadening access to this innovative procedure. Dr. Brink will also offer care for a range of conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat, and related head and neck structures.
