Town of Mooresville issued the following announcement on Apr. 4.
April is "Celebrate Diversity Month" and the Mayor's Diversity & Inclusion Taskforce is excited to launch the Diverse & United Pledge.
Please join us, along with Town of Mooresville employees, neighbors, friends, co-workers, and peers in taking the D&U pledge. This is an intentional way for you to take positive action right now in your homes, schools, businesses, churches, and local communities to show that you uphold dignity, respect, and that you embrace others.
This pledge is a way for us to have one voice and bring our community together by focusing on principles that show we are more similar than we believe. This pledge guides us to speak from a place of hope, courage, empathy, & truth. Please scan the QR code below or visit bit.ly/mdupledge to read and take the pledge today. Once you have taken the pledge, share it with others! How many people can you connect with this week to share and take the pledge?
What does Diverse & United mean?
Diverse= Showing a great deal of variety, very different. Includes people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, religions, physical abilities, and economic backgrounds.
United= Join together for a common purpose. Relate to or form a joint action or a unified effort. Being harmonious and in agreement.
"We can learn to see each other and see ourselves in each other and recognize that human beings are more alike than we are unlike." ~Maya Angelou
