FOIA Request to Iredell County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Iredell News have formally requested records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1.
Our request is specifically for the pre-election test reports of the voting machines used in the county's elections. We have asked for these reports to be provided in a PDF format and to include specific fields such as the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether each machine passed or failed its pre-election test.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we believe access to these records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We have therefore requested a fee waiver as a media professional in line with our role in disseminating information.
