Town of Davidson issued the following announcement on July 10.

Thank You for Caring for Each Other and the Town

Town of Davidson employees join together to thank residents for their kindness, care, patience, and support during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. We have all been humbled by the love you have shown for this community, the generosity with which you help your neighbors, and the encouragement you’ve provided to local businesses, public safety and other town staff, and each other during a particularly difficult time.

It’s clear Davidson residents and business owners care about the health and safety of our community. In Mecklenburg County, the county with the highest number of cases and deaths across the State of North Carolina, Davidson has the fewest cases. We need to remain diligent to keep the case count as low as possible, and to save as many lives as we can over the next several weeks and months.

We know it’s been a tough situation, but we, the town staff, are here to support you. We’re all in this together. We ask that you continue to do the following things so we can all work collectively to keep the Town of Davidson a safe, healthy, and beautiful place.

If you need help and call 911, please continue to report COVID-19-like symptoms. That way, our first responders can be better prepared when they come to help.

We love to see y’all supporting local restaurants and ordering takeout! Remember, though, to please be considerate when you eat takeout on the town green or on one of our new outdoor tables or benches. Please don’t leave your trash or recycling behind – we have added more trash and recycling bins to increase capacity. Your help will make it easier for our small but mighty Davidson Public Works team to keep this town clean and safe.

We encourage all those who are able to abide by the state order and health guidelines to wear a face covering. This will help prevent the spread of the virus and hopefully allow our economy to stay open! Remember, we have reusable cloth masks available for free at the Davidson Public Library and at Davidson Town Hall.

All of our local businesses are working hard to provide services to the community. A few have not been permitted to reopen yet under the Phase 2 restrictions. Please remember you can support local businesses in a number of ways! We have a page on the town’s website at www.townofdavidson.org/localbusiness with information on which businesses are currently open as well as some ideas on how you can support our great local shops and service providers.

Do you have any other questions about COVID-19, town business, or the work any of us are doing? We’re all still reporting for duty – although some of us are teleworking to try to help reduce communal spread. You can reach any and all employees via email or telephone – and our main line at 704-894-7591 is still open during normal business hours.

Thanks again for all you do. As the words in Copeland Richards Law Firm overlooking Main Street read, let’s #BEATTHISTOGETHER.
