Town of Mooresville issued the following announcement on Jan. 25.

Town of Mooresville employee Erika Martin was recently selected for the new position of Planning and Community Development Assistant Director.

Martin has been employed with the Town of Mooresville for several years and has more than 16 years of planning experience. Her significant experience in planning, code enforcement, GIS, and grant management made her an easy choice for a promotion to the position that was created this fiscal year. Additionally, her planning degree from Appalachian State University, completion of multiple courses through the UNC School of Government, strong leadership skills, and AICP certification played a role in the appointment.

Martin has previously worked as the Planning Director for the Town of Troutman and as a Planner with Benchmark Planning.

When asked about her new role, Martin said, “I’ve long been passionate about Mooresville and the possibilities that come with working for such a vibrant community. I am beyond excited to serve in this new role with an outstanding team.”
