City of Statesville Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.

District 1 crime report for November 2022. Greetings neighbors.

I wanted to share our crime statistics for the month of November in District/Beat 1.  Violent crime in our area of the city remains low.  The aggravated assaults reported were between individuals known to each other, not random assaults.   I robbery was reported, which is not the norm, however, this was a case that involved 2 persons that were acquainted, and no injuries took place. That case is under investigation.

Property crime numbers have increased a little as far as larceny reports.  Break-in's dropped, and we had 3 stolen vehicles reported.  All 3 vehicles have been recovered at this time.  From the hotspot map, you will notice that a good bit of property crimes occur in the Sullivan/Turnersburg/Crossroads area.  Most of these are retail crimes.

One crime that did increase in November was catalytic converter thefts.  We saw 5 such cases in our area in November.  Vehicle break-in's were down drastically from October.   Our officers will continue to direct patrols throughout the holidays in retail areas and neighborhoods.

We again remind everyone to lock your vehicle and remove valuables, as the Christmas Holiday is upon us, thieves will look for an easy theft.

Also, after we all open our gifts and enjoy the Christmas holiday, try not to openly advertise to a potential thief what you got for christmas with boxes outside.  Breaking down a box to conceal what was in it, may be worth the extra effort in the long run.

I sincerely wish everyone a happy holiday season, and our next Ditrict 1 community meeting will be in January.  I will post that date when we get a little closer to that time.

Please feel free to contact me anytime.
