CITY OF STATESVILLE: Explorer Trip Series: Reynolda Gardens and Hanes Mall Shopping Trip

City of Statesville issued the following announcement on Aug. 29.

Dates: September 21st, 2022

Time: 9:00AM-3:00PM

Ages: All Ages (Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian with them)

Cost: $20 (transportation only)

Description: Come with us to explore these classic gardens that are more than a century old, Reynolda’s Gardens and grounds were part of the original 1917 footprint for the Reynolda estate, which included a 16-acre, man-made lake, golf course, formal gardens, greenhouses, and woods. Although the landscape has changed over the years, many of its original structures and plans remain intact. Now, Reynolda Gardens of Wake Forest University serves as a 134-acre outdoor horticultural oasis open to the public year-round from dawn to dusk. Revive your senses as you connect with nature and immerse yourself in this peaceful landscape complete with lush, colorful gardens, scenic walking trails, and a waterfall.

Then we will head to Hanes Mall for lunch and shopping. A link to the directory is https://www.shophanesmall.com/directory. We will then aim to leave and be back at Statesville Fitness and Activity Center by 3:00PM before the traffic picks up.

Itinerary:

9:00-Leave Statesville Fitness &

Activity Center

10:00-Explore the Reynolda Gardens at the Reynolda House

11:30-Travel to Hanes Mall

12:00-Lunch & Shopping at Hanes Mall

3:00-Arrive back at Statesville Fitness & Activity Center
