City of Statesville issued the following announcement on Feb. 24.
For the month of February, Ward Six Council Member Fred Foster has named Statesville native Lisa Mozer as the recipient of the Ward Six Community Service Award. A multi-talented speaker, counselor and educator, Lisa is the founder and head of Up Wind Project Inc., a not-for-profit cross media platform that promotes mental health awareness and advocates for Teacher Appreciation & Science Education. Recently, Lisa began working with the City of Statesville and other community members to obtain recognition for a variety of historic properties in the Garfield St./Green St. area.
“She has put a lot of energy and commitment into making sure the stories and history of the neighborhood where she grew up are acknowledged. I am extremely proud to present her with this award. She is a great example of what community service means,” said Foster. Foster created the award to recognize individuals and groups who are making a difference in Ward Six. If you would like to nominate someone, contact Foster at ffoster@statesvillenc.net.
