Iredell-Statesville Schools (ISS) will resume in-person instruction for students in PreK through fifth grade beginning Monday, Oct. 5.
The change in schedules comes as Gov. Roy Cooper declared that he would now allow classes for the state’s students in fifth grade and below, the school district said in a Sept. 17 release.
“We are excited to welcome back all elementary school students five days a week,” ISS Superintendent Jeff James said in the release. “We will use the next two weeks to solidify plans and schedules to ensure a smooth transition.”
James said in the release that the school would endeavor to keep up policies intended to limit the risk of the spread of the coronavirus.
“In order to safely bring all our elementary students back to school full-time, we will continue to enforce enhanced cleaning and sanitizing as well as mask-wearing,” James said in the release. “We’ll offer mask breaks when students are six feet apart, and we will encourage schedules that keep students with their classmates to limit potential exposure as much as possible.”
