The Iredell-Statesville Schools board voted to partially reopen high schools for traditional classes with the caveat that the plans were not concrete.
Board member Ken Poindexter said that the door is open for changes as things could change at any time.
“Number one we’re going to give them a safe environment to go back to and also have as many students as we can,” Poindexter said in a July 21 Moorseville Tribune report.
High schools, including those in Iredell-Statesville district, were planning to continue with remote learning until the state said recently that North Carolina would implement Plan B of its Guidebook for Reopening Schools.
Most high schools in the system will allow students to attend school, according to the report. They will be divided alphabetically by surnames just like middle and lower schools. Online learning is still an option for children. Superintendent Jeff James likened the process to flying a plane while it is being built.
