TOWN OF DAVIDSON: Proclamation for the Declaration of a State of Emergency Cornonavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Coronavirus update920

Town of Davidson issued the following announcement on Mar. 17.

With the ever-evolving guidance regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Town of Davidson has decided to make the proactive decision to close town buildings, including town hall, to the public to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 in our community effective immediately.

Town staff will continue to serve the public, but have been asked to work remotely as possible. The main phone line to Town Hall at 704-892-7591 will remain open to answer any questions from residents.  Town staff, including planning, parks and recreation, and other administrative departments will be working remotely and will respond to phone calls and emails as possible.

The town’s public works department will continue working with a limited crew. This allows for continued maintenance of public areas including park restrooms, trash cans downtown, minimal mowing and landscaping, while still maintaining proper health and safety protocols for town employees allowing for social distancing.

Police and Fire departments will continue normal operations. Please note that when reporting certain medical conditions to 911 Dispatchers, additional questions may be asked to screen for potential COVID-19 exposure. Answering yes to these questions does not mean you or your loved ones have COVID-19. These questions will help us determine if we need to arrive at your residence using appropriate protective equipment. Please answer questions honestly; your health and ours is important at this critical time.

The best, local information for updates continue to be found on the Mecklenburg County Public Health website here or by calling the county’s COVID-19 information line at 980-314-9400. As always, residents are encouraged to follow advice from public health officials and medical professionals. This includes the recommendation to call ahead to any healthcare provider before visiting if you have symptoms of COVID-19 in order to help limit the spread of the virus. More updates will be provided as information becomes available.
