Iredell Health System has announced the addition of Dr. Mario G. Zapata to its Iredell Physician Network, effective June 16. Dr. Zapata will begin seeing patients at Iredell Psychiatry.

Dr. Zapata brings nearly three decades of experience in psychiatric medicine, primarily within the Statesville community. He completed his medical training at Cordoba National University School of Medical Sciences in Argentina and a residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. His specialties include addiction and psychosomatic medicine. Additionally, he is a member of the American Psychological Association and speaks English, Spanish, and French.

The collaboration between Iredell Health System and Dr. Zapata’s private practice has been beneficial to the Greater Statesville community for many years, making this integration into the Iredell Physician Network a natural progression.

Patients visiting Dr. Zapata can expect a comprehensive approach characterized by “experience, compassion, truth, and empowerment.”

“My approach to medical care is empowering my patients to learn about themselves and evolve,” said Dr. Zapata. “My goals for them include stability, recovery, and healing.”

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Zapata enjoys activities such as traveling, dancing, pickleball, and spending time with his two children. He shares a simple health tip: “Breathe frequently, often, and with attention.”

Dr. Zapata is currently accepting new patients aged 18 and over. More information can be obtained by calling 704-380-3620 or visiting iredellpsychiatry.com.
