Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, NC, has achieved an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit known for its focus on patient safety. The grading system spans from “A” to “F” and evaluates hospitals across over 30 measures, including errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as preventative systems in place.
John Green, President and CEO of Iredell Health System, expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s third consecutive “A” rating. “I am so pleased to see our organization receive the recognition of a Leapfrog A rating for the third consecutive season. Our entire team deserves the credit of understanding the many Leapfrog requirements and remaining focused on so many important aspects of care. We believe it is an important example of the quality care that we provide locally in our community,” he remarked.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the sole rating system concentrating on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries, which claim the lives of over 500 patients daily in the United States. The program is peer-reviewed, transparent, and accessible to the public, with updates in the fall and spring.
