COUNTY OF IREDELL: Special Victim’s Unit Detective Arrest a 23-Year-Old Male Following an Investigation

County of Iredell issued the following announcement on Nov. 27.

Date/Time of Offense: Thursday, June 23, 2022, and Monday, July 11, 2022. 

Offense(s)/Charge(s): Two Counts of Felony Statutory Sex Offense with a Child Less than 15

                                      Felony Disseminating Obscenities 

Location of Incident: Western Iredell County

Suspect(s): Bryan Aldair Muniz-Cordoba, 23 Years Old

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday, July 14, 2022, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report in reference to a male suspect having an inappropriate relationship with an underage female. 

This investigation was assigned to Detective J. Welborn with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit. As part of the investigation, Detective Welborn applied for search warrants on the social media accounts used by the suspect to communicate with the underage female victim. The search warrant results identified Bryan Aldair Muniz-Cordoba and the suspect.

Detective Welborn obtained arrest warrants for Muniz-Cordoba for two counts of Felony Statutory Sex Offense with a Child less than 15 Years Old and Felony Disseminating Obscenities. He was entered as a Wanted Person by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, Muniz-Cordoba was located in Wake County by the Cary Police Department and taken into custody. He appeared before a Wake County magistrate, he was issued No Bond. 

On Thursday, November 17, 2022, Muniz-Cordoba was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. Muniz-Cordoba had his first appearance before District Court Judge Ed Hedrick, who issued a 325,000.00 dollars secured bond.
