City of Stateville issued the following announcement on Dec. 5.
Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh proclaimed the week of December 17-24, 2022 as North Carolina Aviation Week at the December 5, 2022 City Council meeting. Kutteh stated that National Aviation Day and National Aviation Week are typically celebrated in August, but we prefer to celebrate in December as the first successful maiden flight was on December 17, 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina by Wilbur & Orville Wright.
